IRDC 4 Hour Enduro - April 10, 2011 - INFO PAGE

Another radio failure mode to plan for is when communication fails in one direction but not the other, eg, the driver can hear the pit crew but not vice versa.

"Give me 2 headlight flashes next time by if you want me to shut up and let you drive."

I apologize for not updating this thread over the past week as I have been on vacation.

We are just two weeks away from the "green flag" to our 2011 race season! IRDC 4-Hour Enduro official entries now stand at 15 total. See the initial post for current driver list.

ENDURO DRIVERS:
- Please make sure you have your 2011 ICSCC license (or other 2011 sanctioning body license) in hand. If you have not renewed yet for 2011, please add that to the top of your "to do" list.
- Concerning Limited Class tire changes, we will enforce the Supplemental Regulations (paragraph 4.5, paragraph 20) as stated. Randy provided the history / clarification in a previous post.
- Contact me (via email) if you want to pit next to a certain team.
- Contact me (via email) to provide me your TEAM NAME or additional drivers (if not already noted on the initial post).

Thanks to all the volunteers who have contacted me over the last few weeks offering assistance to work the race. A good number of novices / potential novices and veteran racers have offered assistance (as turn workers and pit marshals) and that is really appreciated. If you are interested is working the Enduro, just contact me and I will get you a "good seat to view the Enduro action".

Waving yellow @T10 until they're all gone? If it's a real issue (ever), then you go FCY and put out the Safety... er, I mean Pace Car.

Anyway, a real 'front straight' Le Mans start would be cool, and I think that PR's is wider from T10 to S/F than PIR's. Great photo ops.

Stage the start on the drag strip prior to turn 10. Any stalled cars are off the road course. That leaves the problem of dealing with the non-starter. He would probably have to be flat towed to the turn 8 crossing. With only 15 cars, there should be a big enough gap to tow him across to the pits. Observers of the start could cross the same way. It could be done.

I have a hard enough time getting belted in and hans'd up and that's just in the pits. Can't imagine how easy it would be too take off snugging up belts while steering with the knee! Those LeMans starts were from an whole other era......would be fun, though I think it could present some issues unless every car was assigned a marshall to make sure you were really good to go! Talk about penalizing the old guys, geez....

LOL@Bill.

I think a lemans start would rock, but I would also be enjoying watching Bonsell do his best "bonzai" impersonation as he dove into the car

As Rob pointed out, this is what Cascade does at the fall enduro. Not only is there an official verifying you're ready to go before you do, but you have the assistance of a crewmember to get you belted in. In those senses, of course, it's not strictly a start like they used to do at LeMans in the old days.
