What's the verdict on the Spokane track?

To avoid making another new Spokane thread, I'll post here.

Does anyone have a new track map... a decent one like you might get in a driver's packet? I see the basic one on the website but I was hoping for something a bit bigger and minus the photo. I like to make track notes and keep these in my logs.

If not I can try to whip up a vector from what is there but was hoping someone had one already made, perhaps from the SOVREN race or something.

Since when do they put a track map in the driver's packet?

The "basic" maps are all I have ever seen, and some of those has left a bit to be desired over the years. Back in the Stone Age before computers and all many were hand drawn, and then photo-copied a zillion times.

Oh sure Greg, now you want a track map AND a jar of BBQ sauce?! The BBQ sauce is already packed... just need to get Darren on the track map by Friday!

I know we got an ORP track map recently... ok so just for the 'new' tracks. There was a pretty good one posted after the PIR changes a couple years back as well that even had the angles of all the corners.

Well, there you go. Something you could volunteer to do.
New tracks maps for all to get us out of the Stone Age.

Here is the one SOVREN handed out

Is that paddock going to be big enough to let us all spread out comfortable like it used to be or are we going to have to squeeze like we do at other tracks?

The Paddock actually wraps around back on to the drag strip staging lanes. I took a bunch of photos when NHRA had 250 race cars on site and their support rigs are huge compared to what I have seen at Conference races. You should have plenty of room for your paddock. Look at the size of the maps paddock area is a pretty large area.

Hey... is the track entrance no longer where it used to be off N Hayford? This makes it look like we skirt the northern edge of the casino property instead of entering at what was (in 2008, at least, the last time I was there) the official track entrance.

Make a left turn on Sprague at the light . You will drive past the south side of the Casino and enter Spokane County Raceway on the right just past their property line. That is where the entrance to the track is now . Its all new paving into the paddock from there.

They had Spokane County Raceway signs at the corners starting on highway 2 last time I was out there.

So the same entrance as the "unofficial" one we used in 2008: across from the prison and next to the gravel pit, correct? Cool.

Steve Head for the prison like you use to, BUT at the first sign of a fence, jog to the right then to the left on you are on the track property. (There is a sign on the fence) .What you rember from back when, IS NO MORE. Again, cross or turn left off of hy2 and at the first lite (for the casio parking) turn left go about a 1/4 mile make the jog and you are here/there.

No, Just before you get to the prison and the gravel pit . You can't miss it the new entrance . . If you look to the right as you pass the Casino you will see the big yellow gates and the new pavement. When you head to the paddock you will see two pay booths for the drag racers . After you pass through there you will enter the paddock between the old turns 9 and 10. I believe they had plans to have someone as you enter the paddock area to assist you in parking.

All

please be advised that per ICSCC review on Sunday track exit will be the same as the hot pit exit as shown on the SOVREN map

As for plenty of pit space I hope not..........we need more cars!

Finally ...... Eric and Darren if you are staying at the track you are more than welcome to spend the night in our trailer/living quarters or ...... we do have a spare double bed at the house !!! (actually 2) Just let me know. Looking forward to the bbq sauce and a big turn out by the 944 crowd.

Greg

The verdict is, "Not Guilty." And then they cancelled my reservation...

"Spokane County Jail full, limits bookings

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The Spokane County sheriff's office says the jail exceeded its 650-inmate capacity Monday.

Until the jail population drops, most suspects facing misdemeanor charges such as theft or trespassing won't be booked.

The sheriff's office says only those accused of felonies or probation violations and certain crimes says as domestic violence will be locked up.

Holding more than 650 inmates is considered unsafe for the jail population and staff."
