Great videos of NCW group

Great videos, very cool to see my car from your camera. (the other white vette!)

Good clean racing, the blue bimmer m3 is very fast and a good driver.

Here the battle between Rick D and me:
Group 5, ITA:

Facing Rear:

I didn't have the processing power to run any software to do Picture in Picture so just open 2 browsers and sync the vids the old fashion way. My recommendation, turn the volume off on the forward vid and use the sound from the rear vid to sync with my shifts. Enjoy!

p.s.: Rick D is once again the new track record hold for ITA at PR with the IRDC... :(

Colin, I think you're doing it right. That's some fantastic driving right there!

This is why I chose to start racing a CRX. I got tired of being passed by them!

Kudos to Rick D. in Red #5, too.

With all that's happened over the last weekend I've looked at a lot of video and I find it hard to believe that in 2011 the quality of the video most of us are capturing is awful, it's not even standard def, it's barely watchable. We can do better, we have to better.

For all of those taking video I have a couple very very cheap recommendations:

1: I/O Port Camera Mount... You can find them used under $150

2: HD flash memory Camcorder: This is what I used for my rear video (which would have been better if I didn't hit the zoom in button) http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs...8P14/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1306217339&sr=8-2 It also has a tripod mount, internal batter and charges off any usb port. For $49, we could purchase several and have them all over our cars.

3: Go-Pro Motorsports HERO from Overstock for $240 with $7 tripod mount adapter.... http://www.overstock.com/Electronic...O-5-MP-Digital-Camcorder/5318621/product.html

I think it's time for us to step up our game. We can upgrade to HD and Solid state memory really easy and camera mounts that allow us to get the camera where we need it in the car.

I expect production quality to increase for ORP!

:end rant:

My video recorded in excellent quality. We were able to watch it on our tv crystal clear, but when I uploaded it to the computer it lost quality, and further lost quality when I uploaded it to vimeo. I'm going to give it another try tomorrow and see if I can change a few settings to improve quality.

Kudos to the whole Novice group.
You could actually see a big improvement in some of the drivers from the first practice session in the morning to the race.
Job well done.

Colin, sorry if my video quality is so poor as to give rise to a rant. I'm not going to put $350+ worth of camera and memory card on a frame rail where it could be knocked off and gone in an instant.

C'mon man, on the balance the fact that we get to go racing should be enough to overcome many levels of disappointment about lots of truly unimportant stuff. Turn that frown upside down.

$50 bucks Randy! $50 Bucks! and this one comes witih 8GB of built in memory! And Memory cards (even 16Gb) are cheap on Newegg.com. Just gotta know where to shop!

Ok Randy, I'll concede, you're right. There are more important things but enjoying the footage after a great weekend is part of the fun for me so I give a little bit more attention to it. BTW: thank you very much for the welding, you saved my bacon!

My frown is upside down. I'm just part of the spoiled generation with HD TV, HD gaming, HD Youtube, so sometimes adjusting is difficult.

@Ryan, Vimeo likes MP4's and AVI format at 30FPS.

If you're using Windows Movie Maker, I don't think it allows you to offload your video in either of those formats. What I do is run AVIDEMUX 2.5 What it does is it takes your MP4 or AVI (most common 2 formats) and it can clip off the front or rear of your videos or combine 2 videos (like when a go-pro splits 1 video into 2 parts) without having to re-encode. So it's quick, easy, maintains video quality and doesn't require lots of processing power or time.

It's free and highly rated on CNET:

I should teach a class on this stuff.
  1. How to do it
  2. How to do it cheaply
  3. How to do it in HD
  4. How to do it quickly and easily
  5. What software to use and where to upload

And yes, I'm still talking about video :p

In watching Dan's video I'm glad you have that driver in your group. Bad judgement(s) puts everyone in danger in the group. You keep him in in Pro 3 or maybe back in the Novice group.
