Scott Norton
Epic Win, I push limit
WOW! What a difficult/cool/different track.
Hard to learn, tight twisty mostly surrounded by concrete.
Turn 3 160 degree left hander up hill with a two foot ski jump at the apex. Way cool.
Just when I think I am figuring it out and really ready to push it rains after the 5 min warning.
I spin myself out twice in the turn 1 brake zone by axle hopping on the downshift to second. I learn and use third from then on. Started 17th? overall, 5th of 7 in RS and spun to dead last. Recover and get back to battle for 4th in class and I do it again. (Moron). I put my head down and battle back to finish 3rd in class and 6th overall!
To be fair many faster cars/better drivers and to stop or pull off due to windshield fogging. I still have my defroster so I do not have that issue.
I did manage to straight-line the chicane (twice, sorry corner workers!) and destroyed my splitter and undertray so we have some work to due before Spokane. Also managed (whew!) to prove Steve P wrong who told us during the track walk if you go off in turn 8(?) into the grass you will not stop and hit the tire wall. If not for the little strip of asphalt (drag racing return road) out in the middle you would have been right.
Manfred that was awesome fun battling with you! Great fun seeing who could get the power down and were. Probably the only time we get to play like that together. Thanks for the room and clean racing!
Randy Blaylock in the Group 1 race in the rain then drying conditions, what can be said? On a scale of 1-10 you got a rating of 28! Holy $#@! What an epic drive. One of the best drives/display of car control I have ever seen. You really push the bar up so high. Something I will tell my grandkids about. We are not worthy comes to mind.
Thanks to the officials, workers, and of course my fellow competitors. Great fun, great experience. I hope to never miss a Mission race.
Of course having 15+ Canadian friends and family watching both days really inspires oneself
Bonnie and J.C., nice to meet you in person and put a face to your name. See you again.
