Hello all -

We are all looking forward to the upcoming IRDC event at the Ridge Motorsports Park August 11th and 12th. If you haven't had an opportunity to drive on this track yet you are in for a real treat! Lots of elevation change and an excellent balance of fast and technical sections that are surprisingly fair to both high and low horsepower cars in a truly beautiful Northwest setting.

What could be better than that? Toss in the popular German Touring Car Special race and some guest professional drivers who are making the trek out here to the great Northwest to challenge our Pro3 hotshoes and it is an event you don't want to miss. Sign up now and come and play with your friends on a great new course for it's Conference debut and when you get there, make sure to say hi to a fellow driver and the best sponsor in Conference - John McDermott of Car Tender in Seattle.

If you are coming - and I hope you are - drop me an e-mail and tell me how much space you need for your race car and support vehicle. Space will be a bit tight for the first race but we want to set up a padddock plan so we can do our best to accomodate everyone. Don't wait! Get entered and let me get you someplace to park - spots are going fast!

For those workers who will be camping in tents, trailers and such, have you figured out where you will want us? Obviously we don't need to be on pavement, but if you have a specific place in mind, let folks know. Thanks.

Thanks for the reminder RJ. We are creating spots for things that usually we don't even have to think about - it's been an interesting planning exercise. We've been incredibly lucky to have a dedicated core of long time volunteers who smoothly get things done with minimal supervision and a rock solid, well organized race chair assisted by some dedicated past race chairs to keep things rolling smoothly along. We don't realize how spoiled we have become until we have to start from a clean sheet of paper!

I'll make sure and highlight your point on my planning notes for our meeting tonight.

Definitely, if you are bringing a big rig or know someone who is - please get in touch with me ASAP! Large spaces are filling up and we are doing our best to park large rigs that service multiple vehicles in a way that helps efficiently use what space we have.

Space will be tight, there will be room on the pavement for racecars and a support vehicle. Street cars will definitely not be allowed in the paddock unless they are your support vehicle and fit inside your assigned pit space.

I want to make sure people who want to pit together are accomodated as much as possible. Some cars MUST be on the pavement - Formula, Sports Racers, GT cars on slicks - but I would like to fit everyone on if possible. If not there is an area of crushed compacted paving base adjacent to the paddock that will accomodate a lot more cars, as well as motorhomes, trailers, and street cars.

Sorry for the minor complication, but with good planning and cooperation we want to make your first trip to the Ridge a fantastic experience. Spread the word - contact me with your info ASAP!

Hey Rick...will be there this weekend with SCCA so it should be interesting to see how the paddocking works out, though there are only about 130 entries which is less than will show up in August. I will have a motor home and 20' trailer as well as wanting to save a spot for a team mate. I am going to try and place my motor home and trailer just off the pavement this weekend with canopies and cars on the pavement and see how that works out. Will be glad to post an update after the weekend, if you don't plan on coming out and viewing for yourself.

Hi Simon - Just contact me at 425 785 2376 and I will provide you with volunteer opportunities on Saturday, August 11th. We (IRDC) really appreciate the volunteers that assist us in putting on a race event.

Thank You!

We're wondering where to book a hotel. The Shelton Inn and Super 8 are both full. Any suggestions? It is our first time down there.

John The only other Motel that is close is the Lucky Eagle Casico, about 10 miles from the track, if they are full the next closeest motels are in the Olympia, Tumwater area, 30 mile away.

In Olympia/Tumwater, there are aleast 6 motels within 1 to 2 miles of the I5/101 interchange

One more question not answered on the question thread. When can we get into the track on Thur for the test day on Fri? When are you going to be there with the assigned spaces. Thanks again for the effort.

John...check out the Little Creek Casino just east of Shelton. They were pretty booked for the recent SCCA weekend but there was a big tribal event occuring in the Mason/Kitsap area. Hopefully, not so booked this upcoming weekend.

For those that are wondering - thanks for all of the great response to the e-mail address I posted and from the big group forums. Trying to have the parking chart pretty much caught up by the end of the week-end and I will post it (with Steve's help of course as I'm hopeless at such things) so you can take a look and send me any corrections, duplications, etc.

Don't worry if I havent replied - I've had way too many e-mails and of course my job keeping me from spending too much time conversing! I've only replied to those who I needed more info from so if that's not you that's good!

On Thursday the NW Porsche Club is renting the track. IRDC representatives will be arriving throughout the afternoon to prepare to guide you into your designated parking assignments as soon as the Porsche folks wrap up. We will get you placed in your spot when the track's prior customers have cleared the paddock area. Most clubs wrap up on track activities around 4 or 5PM.

Look for the folks in ORANGE to guide your parking, and please be patient - we've got a lot of folks to fit into a facility that is new to us all.

Thanks Dave. Sounds like getting there too early in the day is not a good thing. Patience is the key and also being tolerant. As you state it is new and those working are doing their best. Good news is it sounds like this will be cured by next season. Thanks again.

I poked around and don't see a posting of the parking chart.

There has been a change in the pregrid area at the Ridge that takes up more of the paddock. This requires that I review and possibly change the parking chart ... again.

Thanks for your patience.
