Spokane update

Wes, They have already started to grade the shoulders of the track areas. The early priority was to get the drag strip up and operational. They had even widen with a dozer the entrance road areas. The official I chatted with said they knew they had road course priorites as well. He acknowledged the road race cars and motorcycles needing some changes in saftey areas.

Holly,
They were very careful to move the T & S shack and also the starters stand over to the side. He mentioned that they are handling it as property that is not theirs, so they wanted it intact. They could have easily just crushed it . We discussed the use of the portable construction trailers with windows, and real AC ;) .. we know hard that little AC in the shack worked when it got really hot. I also know what shape the poor shack was in, since I quickly cleaned it the past two years.

Scott has a track day out there this weekend, so he should update you all at the next race .

I was also surprised that they had done so much to the oval track. At the last briefing I was at they were planning on holding off on any work on it. Heck, One of the ICSCC drivers was sighted using the open oval track day to get the old Fiat out ;).

BTW... for some reason they didn't knock down the shower building .

Im speechless, well not really, I just cant say what I think. My thoughts go out to the family.

I'm going to ask everyone to NOT discuss yesterday's incident on this forum. There are a number of legal ramifications to what happened and I'd prefer that this forum not be involved with them, even if tangentially.

Thanks.

On a positive note....things sure look much better at the track. Many nice improvements with more to come.

Randy, did you make it out for the Saturday open track day ? I wanted to
attend the ASA race last night, but I took my Mom to the Casinos for her
Mothers day gambling fix.

Scott, also posted a work day schedule for the fabirication of the workers stations. I will copy and paste it later today. The Motorcycle racers are heading it up, and I believe the materials are already on site, and ready by the turn 6 equipment area.

Hey Mike

No I did not go out Sat. I would like to see what is going on at the oval now also. Neither of my track day cars is ready. I was just out there Fri to say hello to people and see our Lemons race car run.

When is the work day?

Randy,
Here is what was posted.

" On Saturday May 16, 9AM to Whenever, there is a work party to build the replacement turn stations that were removed by the County.

The materials are being purchased and staged on site. The stations will be built in a central area near the Spokane County raceway Paddock and then moved out to the corners. Bring your tools and help us build the 10 stations needed to safely man the track.

RSVP to jengle451@comcast.net. Jim is a motorcycle guy who is organizing the event. There are at least a dozen bike guys coming out. Don't let them outnumber us car guys.

Well, it appears the motorcycle clubs work day was a success. I was out at the track to make a few runs, and noticed that the work stations are in place. Some still need a
bit of finish work done to them. They had a loader working in drivers right of turn four last night clearing out a section where the old station use to be. The motorcyle racers
have the track for this weekend, and it appeared to be a good showing. I think you all are going to enjoy the changes at the track.
