Source for AvGas 100LL in Spokane

Can someone let me know of a source for 100LL AvGas (Spec fuel for Club Ford) that's close to the track in Spokane?

Hi Wes
Yeah, that would seem to be the logical answer.
However, of late airports are cracking down on people filling gas cans with AvGas, especially larger, commercial airports.
I was hoping for a response from someone who has actually used a facility in the area.
Not that I don't value your opinion, I'm just not sure that it's the voice of experience... LOL

Trout

I used to get it yearsago at Felts Field located about 20 minutes from the track (east). I do not know if they are still willing to sell it or not. Sorry I could not be more help.

Having researched the fuel it is not illegal to purchase 100LL, some FBOs are reluctant to sell to people putting it in jugs but that is their own judgment. I will check today about availability at Felts and report.

Here is the answer. Western Aviation at Felts Field has 100LL available, self service price is $6.12/gal. The line svcs person will escort to the pump and aid in entering info but you will pump thus getting the self service price (if they do it it is 6.26 or thereabouts) It is available to us during business hours 8-5 daily. After hours is a call out price and you don't want that. They were very nice and the gal I spoke with has a husband that races also. Told her it was for race cars and she said no problem. She also said we can call the line services person direct at 509-939-8197 if you want to set up a time in advance. Did not get directions but they will provide them if necessary. As I remember Felts is in the downtown area on the river. I did call one place at Spokane Int'l and they will sell to us but the container must be metal, first time for that, everyone has their own rules. Most of the difficulty, is with airport security and flightline access. My experience has been that the smaller more rural airports have more open access. Hope this helps.

Hi Sherm!
Good to hear from you.
Are you going to be racing in Spokane?
I'd love to share some track with you again.
Can't begin to tell you how much fun I had running with you (make that trying to run with you) back at Elkhart Lake.
Thanks for the definitive info on fuel availability.
That's exactly what I was looking for and will contact Felts Field when I get into town.
We'll be staying in town so it'll be very convenient.

Josh
Good to hear from you, too.
My understanding of the legality of AvGas is that there isn't road use tax added to the price so it's not legal to use it in a vehicle operated on public roads.
Okay for race cars, airplanes, boats, tractors, lawnmowers, etc, etc...

Harvey Field in Snohomish, WA, also has 100LL available. I learned to fly there when I was 16 and keep both of my airplanes there. Harvey Airfield is one the last and very few Ma and Pa airports left. Just come up to the office and tell them you are a racer and you know me, they will sell you fuel at $6.45 per gallon. If you happen to live close or will passing Snohomish, Harvey Field is definitely a good choice to load up on 100LL.

As Sherm pointed out, the bigger municipal airports have security issues and the fuel prices are generally much higher.

BTW, it is definitely NOT illegal to purchase 100LL.

With those prices I should get more jugs and bring it up from here, $5.22 at the small airport where I buy it. Some good things about Idaho I guess. Yup I'll be racing Trout, looking forward to it.

Hey Shem, At $5.22 a gal, get a couple of 55gl barrels and load up. You sell at $5.75, cover all your costs AND make every body happy. HA HA See you there Dave

When I worked at an FBO we would sell to people for non highway use only. Back then we still had 100-130 leaded and we could get the 115-145 purple gas on the Navy base.

The metal container was an OSHA requirement.

Felts Field is your best bet , how much are you going to need ? I just checked Pappy Boyington Field across the street from my shop and they are listing 100LL at $5.64 a gallon.

Auburn still has their self serv pumps and they even open the gate for me when they see me lugging 3 or 4 cans from the parking lot. Put in 9999 for the tail number and pump away. The Renton airport also has no issues selling to us can carriers, but sometimes the wait for the fuel truck can be long.
$5.22 is definitely a great price Sherm compared to over here. Good luck to you guys next week; play safe and have fun!

Hey Wes
I thought I saw your name on the entry list at MotorsportReg.com.
Are you now saying that you're going to be a no-show?
Bad form, dude!

Unfortunately yes that's what it means. After 11 months of barely no work, I know have too much so I will be working that Friday and Saturday. Well, not actually working but managing the work, which I like much better! I plan to be at PR at the end of the month so we'll play then bro.
Call me when you get to Seattle so we can do breakfast.
