SCCA PIR - Cancelled.

Watch for an increase in entries for The Ridge as the conflicting SCCA race at PIR was cancelled this morning due to low car counts. Suspect some will venture north and join us.

Well, it may up the entries, BUT I hope it will increase the worker counts. We have a lot of real estate to cover. 3 per turn would be soooo perfect.
It is unfortunate to see a race weekend cancelled due to lack of entries. We have been dodging the bullet so far, although ORP I think suffered a bit last weekend. The times they are a changin'.

here is the announcement.

Subj: August Double Regional CANCELLED

As of this morning, we have a total car count of 46 entries for the August co-sanction (NWR and OR) event at PIR. Given that we need 75 cars to break even on a two day weekend, at the current car count the club is looking at a loss of between $15,000-$20,000 if we do not get any additional entries.

Given all the racing we have done just lately, the general consensus is that many drivers have spent their budgets for the year. With the addition of the Ridge Motorsports Park and the fact that we have spent 3 of the last 6 weekends racing, it appears that it has been just too much of a drain on the drivers cars, budgets and time.

We, as a club, cannot afford a loss of that magnitude and so we must cancel the August event at this time. We sincerely apologize for the situation, but as of now we have little choice in the matter as the club is not in a position to absorb such a heavy financial loss.

We will of course refund all monies that have been collected in regards to the drivers.

We are working with NWR on making the September event the co-sanction event and final event of the year.

Sincerely

Andrew Foley
