Rose City Opener Group 2 Race Video.

good video Bill. when I passed you , outside of 6 it looks like i surprised you a bit, whether i did or not i needed to give you a little more room. looking at your video i squeezed you a little to much and im sorry.

Thanks Eric...yes I did see you coming up on my outside into T6 and felt you did pinch me a bit on the exit, but hey, that's racing. Would be very interested in your thoughts concerning a pass I attempted to make at the end of the front straight at the 16:20 minutes or so in the video. I think I presented myself, was mostly along side in the braking zone. It seems like I was not given enough room at 4A and certainly 4B, but as a very new racer, I would appreciate you thoughts. And how might I have handled it better to make the pass stick. I think there could have been contact if I had not really moved inside at the apex which killed some of my momentum. You can shoot me an email if you prefer - wbonsell@comcast.net....

See you at Pacific...

Bill: you presented yourself correctly and he gave you more than enough room. However, since you had an inside line under braking and entry you were at a disadvantage in terms of speed and momentum so he had the speed advantage. From where I sit, it appears that you could have stayed on it and had so much room that there was no need to lift and you might have been close enough to force the issue in T5 (and by force the issue I mean; up to his door making it necessary for you two to go two wide). But you were safe and at the end of the day, that's what's important. The driver of the white miata was clearly doing some heads-up driving and gave you enough "competitive" room IMHO.

Good driving.

Thanks Colin....appreciate your remarks. As a new racer I am learning that racing room, doesn't mean you are entitled to stay on "the racing line". And also, if I had stayed on the throttle a bit more, then perhaps the white Miata would have had to move a bit left to avoid me. I am sure I am not nearly as comfortable in really close racing proximity as a more experience racer might be, but it is a learning process after all. I certainly want to be a gentlemen on the track even if I am trying as hard as I can to get the guy in front of me! See you on the 21st......

i would say yes you did present yourself but it looked like you were expecting them to let you have the spot which they "fought back" and had plenty of speed to clear you in to 2/5. looking at when you hit the brakes from when they hit the brakes you over slowed turn 1/4 but over slow is safe. maybe next practice session or trackday you work on "off line speed and that will help with passing because then you will know the speed you can go 2 wide through "X" corner and hold your line
