Is there a home for SCCA T2 cars in Conference?

+1 to what Steve C. said. This is simply a brainstorming exercise. There's no need for anyone to get nasty about it. We're all friends here, right?

Personally, I think T2 cars would fit in just fine in Group 5. I'd prefer to tun on Toyo RA1s, given the choice of tire.

Not worth arguing about......

. If a 300hp car is only running 1:41's at Pacific Raceways it becomes a major pain in the ass to the cars that run 1:41's with 120hp.

What about a 190 RWHP 2800 car running 1:39-1:40's :p

It is really a non-issue here at least with the NWR of SCCA. According to the region’s posted results for 2009 only 2 T2 cars have entered all year.

Oregon Region shows 3 (4 actually but 1 of them is on of the 2 for NWR above) entries:

Although you only need 5 drivers to make it legal and you Mike would be the 5th. ;)

FWIW I have run in groups 1 & 4 this year. I am have been frequently the slowest car in group 4. I have not heard any of the groundpounders complaining about me. They are so fast they are never in my way really.

It would take a lot of backwards work to get my car back to T2 shape. Even if it was introduced to Conference, I probably wouldn't run it with my current car.

Oh yeah -- And 1:41's for group 2 cars at Pacific is not accurate. 1:43's-1:44's for the fast guys according to the qual and race results from this season. A bone stock STi would be in the 1:45's-1:46's, with a top speed of about 130 on the straight.

as brain storming goes you might have something in this class in a few years but not on street tires. ive driven and instucted enough of the sti/evos 350z and camaro's srt4 on track to know how fast you can and cant go on track. the corner speed is just not there. now if you would allow like a 100 tread wear tire(like a RA1 which was said already) that would most likly give them in most case enough traction to lap fast enough to be at the front of the groups. my car probably does not hit 115 in seattle or 105 at pir but ill get 1:43 and 1:33s i look just like a pro3 so ill get my own class to wave be by and i cant go by because im drafting them to go there speed down the straights but thats racing and is fun
