In Other News...

This from the Race Chairman's desk (or at least the phone on his desk):

After overcoming some scheduling difficulties, the SCCA Certification Team will be arriving at PDX this evening to be escorted by the right, and (mostly) honorable Team Continental Race Chairman, Steve Leonard to Oregon Raceway Park on August 18th, and proceed with the act of pass/fail for SCCA certification (i.e. inclusion to the SCCA list of sanctionable tracks). :)

It should be noted that this entire process is, and has been, at the full expense of Team Continental. Something, I think, that ICSCC should be very proud of. :p

That's dedication to the sport. ;)

Confidence is high, but guarded, so as not to disappoint.

Also, in order to maintain some compliance to the ICSCC procedures TC has delivered their (tent) Race Announcement and Schedule to the controlling entity(s) as spelled out in the PPM.

One more piece to the puzzle.

More on this and other ORP news later.

Please join me in my optomism, and wish them good luck in their endeavor.

GREAT of "TC" to take this on! Good job guys.

As you would expect from me, it does raise a question in my mind. Why does ICSCC need an SCCA Certification? Does not ICSCC have its own?

IF the club depends upon SCCA track certification, how did ICSCC race for all those years at Pacific after the SCCA de-certified it??

Open House @ Oregon Raceway Park

If you haven't had the opportunity to visit Oregon Raceway Park personally, to touch the wind, smell the flora, and breath the life of that fresh environment. Please schedule some time to visit in two weeks. (Official notice attached).

It's a perfect opportunity to see a raw, and rough cut example of what our present, and more familiar race tracks were like in their infancy. When nobody knew what to expect, and there was no time to second guess the outcome of the competition that went on.

It's time to walk the walk, so you can talk the talk.

See you there!

I drove by there today and the road to the track is being worked on. That will help with getting to the track. Hopefully the dust will be gone and no soft road in the wet months. G

Wet months? In Morrow County they are wet minutes..... :)

They get about a foot of rain a year and thats mostly 2 months when it snows.... :)

Of course racing on ice is popular in some parts...

<Happy to see it moving>
