Impact gun on sale-great deal

I have/had this exact gun. It worked great for 2 years until the batteries quit.
You can buy new batteries from Northern Tool but they are $69.99 each and is the only place you can buy them.
They are not interchangeable with any others I could find after an extensive search.

It is not the same as the Longacre ones I compared them side by side. (Mike M.)

But when it worked it worked very well.

Hope it did not come off as negative. I would still be using it if the batteries and not go TU. I think it was the inactivity in the off season that might have hurt them the most.
One battery typically last me 1/2 to 3/4 of a race day depending on the use.
It would knock the lugs off when torqued on no problem. But if you broke the lug nuts loose by hand the battery last twice as long.
Being a former US R/C car champion I tried everything I could/knew to bring them back to no joy.
I have used the longacre too and if I had the money would have bought it. But the Northern gun is cheap.
I forget but the price for longacre batteries is not much more then the Northern IIRC.

This year I picked up a gun and GI Joe close out for $33 and a grinder for the same price to get another battery. I did not think one battery was worth buying from Northern at the time.

No I would buy one of the Northern ones again and really probably should have this year.
$99 or whatever every 2 years VS my Longacre catalog:
1 gun and 2 batteries is $275
Longacre spare batteries is $75

I use long bullnose Turner studs and Turner lugnuts. I torque them at 95 ftlbs. The gun would knock them loose no problem.

Heck buy 2 at $99 and have 2 guns and 4 batteries. If you end up in a big hurry second gun could be handy.

Don't buy new OEM batteries. Go to Batteries Plus or similar store and have them rebuild the ones you have. They have much better quality batteries than the original. I had one of ours rebuilt and it outperforms the new ones by a huge margin and holds the charge much longer also.

Agreed! Thanks

Now THAT is a really interesting tip. Thanks!

That was not an option last year as the Everett store near me was not open yet. But is a great idea. I have heard many good things for both car and other batteries about them.

I kept my old gun on the wild chance I might find some deal on battery packs.
Glad I did.

I sell the Ingersoll-rand 14 or 19.2v ones, expensive especially the nic battery, but the best on the market. I also have a Kawasaki (yes and green too) 1/2 inch impact that works very well, but the power is not as nice as the IR.

I use a Dewalt DW059K, which uses the same 18-volt batteries and chargers that the rest of my cordless tools use. They're easy to replace, and I even have a charger with a cigarette adapter so I can charge batteries right inside the Shining Escalade of Justice.

Is that how you ended up with a dead battery in the Escalade that weekend at PIR? :D I still have the jumper cables if you need them again.
