Driving time to Mission ---

Trying to get to Mission for the first time if I can get the time off...just curious as to the driving time, including border crossing, from Edmonds ferry to track on a Saturday morning....

Thanks,
Bill

I live in Newcastle Bill, which is just north of Renton off I-5. It is 130 miles from my house to the Mission front gate, and I usually make it up there in 2.5 hours with normal traffic. You'll be at least 25 minutes closer from the Edmonds ferry dock, minus the time to takes you to get from there to the freeway. So your commute should be shorter than mine from that point, but you never know what to expect at the border. The best route is off at Bellingham and over to Sumas, then it's a 10 to 15 minute drive to the track from there. If we go up mid day on a Friday, or real early on Saturday the wait is typically 10 minutes or less; the wait coming home is usually much longer.

Thanks Wes ---

Since I live in Poulsbo, I have to consider the ferry crossing etc., but would much prefer to drive up very early Saturday am than coming Friday...work is a *****! Seems once I am through Edmonds, it's really not much of a trip and seems pretty easy....where's everyone stay and are rooms tough to find?

I think people stay at The Best Western on Lougheed Highway, which is called "The Mission City Lodge". There are a couple of cheaper alternatives not too far away, but after those the closest accommodations are in Abbotsford.

What are the track accommodations like for over-nighters (read that 25' RVs)?
This will be my first time out, after I do an emergency passport request.
And no, enhanced WDLs don't work for me ...

We welcome over night campers. You need to be fairly self contained IE power and water etc. There are lots of facilities available locally , food ,parts. theaters etc within walking distance if need be. the main gates are locked for security from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am.

Yes, I am self contained.
However, where do I park the RV in relationship to my trailer and car?
Of course, the closer the better.

The signup sheet references 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices for paddock.
What does that mean?
If I signup right away is my RV closer to my trailer and car?

Bill, the map of the paddock can be found here

Just put down your choice of paddock spot in order of preference on the entry form. I believe paddock spaces are assigned in the order the entries, so the earlier you submit your race entry, the more likely you are to get the paddock space you want. Each paddock spot has space for one support vehicle, spots 103-110 are longer and are generally given to racers with longer trailers or motorhomes.

I finally found the paddock map, registered and asked for a long spot.
This Friday is 'get a passport day'. Once again I get to pay for procrastination.
Wonder why that is? Huh. I'll think about that later in the week.

Thanks

Overnighting at the track in Mission is a kick. There are plenty of folks to hang out with and swap racing glory! Then there are the mosquitos...bring bug spray and a 30-06 rifle to shoot them with (they grow 'em big in Mission!) The occasional black bear has been known to linger in the area, but that's usually later in the season when the salmon are in the rivers ( or Wes leaves his lunch leftovers in his racecar...)

I love Mission.

Thanks Mike , we love having you and all our american cousins join us for unfortunately our sole conference weekend this year. we should be back to our usual 2 or three weekends next year. No mosquito's yet, too cold, and no bears , Appearantly the bear was there for JC's fine salsa .mmmmmmmm, yum.
