You/he should check out the For Sale section on the local BMW Club board as well as at Munich Evolution (no affiliation, but Matt is well-known amongst the local BMW herd).

Just a note, there were no E46 sedans made, only coupes. BMW decided that the U.S. wouldn't buy many 4-doors, so they stopped making them after 1999.

Ha! Guess my eyes blipped right over that part. Yeah, what Richard said, except to add that the current generation of M3 is available as a sedan. Just not the E46.
