From Shadow F1 to Stohr D/SR??

Well the field is pretty much set for the SCCA Double National at Pacific this weekend.

One late entry that sorta shocked me is MILES JACKSON in a Stohr 01D D/SR!! We are used to watching him motor the Frisbee Can-Am, Shadow F1 or the Chevron F5000 car.

Group 1 will be exciting. FIVE of the new FB class cars entered with two ICSCC drivers. Nicolas Belling and Kyle Oberndorf will probably be the two battling for the wins in Group 1. I suspect they will eventually be ahead of the 4 FA's entered.

There are 10 SM's in what's the largest race group (3) with 22 cars. Total entry's are 71 in the Nationals and 66 in the 2 regional run groups.

Looks like the 'best' weather day is Sunday with a high of 69 and 'partly sunny'. Want a good seat? Come on out and work a corner. FREE temp SCCA memberships to workers and a great view.

....I'm headed down tomorrow to see if a couple
friends made it. t

DRESS WARM! I'm working T8 and it "felt" like the March Enduro yesterday morning. Warmed up just a tad in the afternoon.

I was sorta surprised at the rather long radio message at the start of the Vintage race group concerning defferntials in speed in the group. Wondered what the heck was that all about as I hung the White and Surface flags. Then the pack came in to view out of T-7... LOL

Dimmer has the Tyrrill F1, Miles Jackson has the Shadow F1 and they are running the Chevron T-29 (not the F5000) or Bradham BT-40 plus a sactering of V8 sports racers mixed in with your more typical field of vintage BMW's, Alfa's, MG's, etc. Yes BIG speed differenial. But none of the big guys were really on it due to the wet (not rain at that time but wet, wet).

I know you're not an open wheel guy, Toby. But the Group 1 race should be pretty exciting. Group 1 has FIVE of the new class FB's in it. Nicholas Belling (ICSCC driver) was VERY quick in Qual 1 yesterday out doing the other 3 cars that ran by 8 seconds a lap. Oberndorf (also ICSCC) should be down fron Canada today and make it a serious race (wet or dry). 4 FA's are entered but only 2 took the track yesterday. Belling left them in the vortex of his wing! I predict one of the Canadians will win this race.

Hey, I never said I was opposed to open wheelers!
Anyone have a spare one they want to...
donate to the cause?

That Chevron was beautiful, though....
