Where to discuss rules?

I'm a novice and am building a G-Producton car and am trying to understand where to learn about intent and questions i have on the rule set?

For instance after years of doing track days I know that my car suffers a low oil pressure situation when turning left. particuarly #6 at PIR.

I had ASSumed I could baffle the oilpan as I have found that accusumping it was merely a bandaid for bad oil control.

I then was re-reading the Production rules and found nothing about being able to baffle the pan in the allowed modifications section.

Any thoughts or suggestions here or any knowledge as to where I can go to ask questions about the rules?

Cheers

I'm pretty sure the G Production rules come from the SCCA, so your best bet would be to check the GCRs, FasTracks, and relevant SCCA forums. Obviously, you can also ask questions here, as there are various Production-class folks on this forum.

Conference production rules and SCCA rules are different. I run in SCCA production and baffels are legal. Accusumps may be a bandaid but I have used one for the last 20 years with great success. G

Read the 'rules' carefully. MANY, MANY cars will have oil control problems under racing conditiond and high side G forces. And, many tracks around the country have corners generating higher and more prolonged G forces then T-6 at PIR.

The "bandaids" as you call them were invented (and heavily sold) for just such reasons. Even in classes where engines must be 'factory stock' they allow dry sumping and mods to the oiling systems.

Having said that, there is something of an 'art' to correcting these conditions. Pan baffling has to be designed (and trap doored) properly not only for side forces but also braking and acceleration movements of the oil. Proper baffling and/or Accusumps solve these issues.

Unless you have a very unique car, somebody has probably designed a proper pan and oiling system for it. Find out what works and use it. People have probably gone through several itterations to get it right already.

clearly my questions are being mis-interpreted.

I'm not asking for suggestions on how to solve the issue. I gave an example but it could be about porting cast exhaust manifolds, or head gasket thickness or..or ..or.

The question is where do I ask rules question to help get them defined?

When I used to run IT a quick trip to improvedtouring.com and post up and within a few days the guys making the decisions on the rules had answers. I'm curious how that happens with production cars for conference....

Well, start with the Conference rule book, and when you read something that doesn't make sense to you, post a question here!

The fundamental truths of Conf Prod are 'you can't change much' and 'if it doesn't SAY you can do it, you can't'

So I can categorically say that you must run stock 'most everything. And you can machine very little (like, no cutting down your crank)

And if you read far enough into the Policies and Procedures manual, you'll find that the the buck stops with (this year) Bill Spornitz...

But this is the right place to ask- we all have opinions!

...but not in Conf Prod. The Accusump IS legal, tho, isn't it?

Production rules are pretty specific. If it does not say you can modify something the should be left stock. The intent of the Production class is to leave cars as close to stock as intended in order to keep cost's down. SCCA production rules equal ICSCC Improved Production class.

I have a GP Datsun and would be happy to discuss anything you are wanting to do. GP looks to be growing this year and will be a fun class to play in.

What type of car do you have?

not sure why your car is having this problem im running stock oil pan and turning faster laps and my oil psi never drops. i would look into your set up not changing the rules
