Have YOU ever seen ICSCC Meeting minutes?

Steve Adams

Just this guy, ya know?
No? Neither have I, which is why I introduced an agenda item for the Falling Meeting that we start posting summarizations of the Spring and Fall Meetings on the Web site.

It was voted down by the E-Board.

But wait! Before anyone gets wound up by that, be aware that ALL the Member Clubs ALREADY get a summarized copy of the minutes. Whether each club posts it to their respective Web sites or make them otherwise available to their members is up to them, but YOU should ask YOUR Contest Board rep where and how you can access them, if you're interested in learning more about the decision-making process of Conference.

(Unfortunately, Affiliate Clubs do not get these meeting summaries. The Secretary is already looking into whether that can be done, too.)
[Edit: I tell a lie... all Contest Board reps get a copy of the minutes per procedure 6.3.4.2.]

I sat in on the E Board meeting for a little while on Saturday. After listening to the conversations I can't imagine how long the full minutes must take to transcribe from the recordings and prepare for publishing. I also can't imagine a widespread demand for a full copy.

That's a FACT, db. I sat in on about 2 hours of the "big" meeting last year. The 'minutes' have got to be about an encyclopedia sized document. You'd probably spend every waking minute next season trying to read it all.

I did get a PDF of the fall minutes from a couple years ago. It was about 75 pages (really). But it is word for word. Tip of the hat to the transcriber.

The principle reason there is a reluctance to publishing to the web is the financials contained within the minutes. While the E-Board is fully on board with transparency, going on the world wide web with our intimate details isn't the best idea. Anybody, well, conference members anyway, that want the info can get it just by asking.

I perhaps should've been more specific and less "cute" about how I said this: There have been some comments off-and-on, both here and around the paddock, about a desire for more transparency with E-Board-level decisions. My suggestion was for a summary of the meetings, rather than the full transcript, but it was turned down because that information is ALREADY (and always has been) available to anyone in ICSCC who wants to read it.

IOW, there's no excuse for anyone thinking there's any mystery around a decision or action of the E-Board. If you want to know what happened, or what the discussion around a decision was, contact your Contest Board rep (and/or Club) and request the summary or full transcript.

Steve, would it possible for the results of the rule change proposals only, to be posted.
I know there were a few, rather lengthy discussions, on some of the proposals.

This would be just to give the drivers a pre-season head's up. What passed what didn't, what will affect them, what won't.
It will be in the new Comp Regs, so it will be out there for general comsumption anyway.

Maybe it could be done in the rule change section of the forum, where all the proposals were posted? Maybe our new Steward could do this?

I don't think this would stepping outside the box too much.

So publish them without the financial reports. That must yield at least 90% of the minutes as publish-able. That's how we do it with the local BMW Club minutes... since 1999.

I've done that here.

Sounds like Steve needs to hire an "ICSCC business editor" for the website.

They can have a desk right next to the "ICSCC ROD sites editor"

Just the facts, ma'am.

At the next IRDC meeting our E-board rep will be giving a full report of what went on at the annual meeting and everyone is welcome and urged to attend and ask questions. That report will be transcribed and appear in the Club minutes that are posted on the IRDC website for all to read who are interested. I can only assume that this is done at all member club meetings and if it isn't you should be asking your E board representative for a full and detailed report at the very least.

A real problem is turnout at the Club meetings. I am always amazed at how few licensed drivers show up to vote on the rules. Those that vote vote for those that don't. I guess the last years racing events went well.

Everyone is welcome to attend the November and January ICSCC meetings, it is a very time consuming, tedious and often boring event with little excitment. If you have any questions with regard to what goes on you need only ask.

ICSCC Liability Waiver

"The idea of posting the waiver on the ICSCC website along with the other forms has been referred to ICSCC officials, since they are responsible for the website's content. With the fall meeting coming up soon, a response may not be immediate, but it will be forthcoming."

Just curious ... was this issue discussed?
