TC Motorsports' Ted Anthony, Jr. Wins from Pole at Homestead

Auburn, WA, March 17, 2009– Ted Anthony, Jr., driving the #9 TC Motorsports Ford Racing Mustang FR500S, won from pole position in Race 2 of the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge series at Homestead-Miami Speedway last weekend, his second career win in Mustang Challenge competition.

Anthony and his TC Motorsports teammate Rick Edwards shared the top three spots on the practice sheets many times during the race weekend’s testing and practice sessions. However, due to a mechanical problem, which developed on Saturday and caused a large drop in engine power output, Anthony was off the pace and qualified 8th and finished 12th in Race 1. Edwards, driving the TC Motorsports/ EdwardsDDS.com Ford Racing Mustang FR500S, qualified and finished 5th in Race 1–his best qualifying and race results in his Ford Racing Mustang Challenge career. The TC Motorsports team was also awarded the GoPro Setting the Standard Award for the team’s dedication and support of the Mustang Challenge series; the team traveled over 4,000 miles to attend the Homestead event.

Although the issues with Anthony’s car resulted in a disappointing finish for Race 1, the team knew that there was much more potential for a win with the car running stronger. The crew fixed the engine problem on the #9 car Saturday night, and Anthony put the car on pole for Sunday’s Race 2 with authority, 0.282 seconds ahead of his nearest rival, Andrew Caddell. Edwards qualified 5th for Race 2, 0.337 behind Caddell, and 0.132 seconds behind 4th place qualifier Andy Lally. At the drop of the green, Anthony immediately gapped Caddell and maintained a roughly 2-second lead for the entire 45 minute race, eventually winning the race with Caddell in second and Mike McGovern in third. Edwards struggled with overheating tires, but still finished ninth.

The #9 TC Motorsports FR500S has captured more wins than any other car in series history. Caddell drove the car to two wins in 2008, and Anthony drove the car to two wins, one at the end of 2008 and one this weekend. TC Motorsports continues to be the only team to have customer drivers win in the Ford racing Mustang Challenge series.

Race rounds #3 and #4 will be at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, April 18-19. Ford Racing Mustang Challenge will be the headline race for the 45th Anniversary Ford Mustang Celebration event! You can join Ted Anthony, Jr., Rick Edwards, and the winning TC Motorsports team for this exciting event by driving the #8 TC Motorsports FR500S, which is available for rent for this event. The dude is fast! Now all he needs is a sponsor...He's got the talent.

Nice job TCmoto. I didn't realize that #9 was the winningnest...most winning...uh...the car with the single most wins in the Mustang fleet. That's pretty cool.

With all this talent coming from the Northwest, what are the chances the Mustangs will see Portland?

Thanks gang!

Until there is a big event in Portland, you won't see FRMC there, unfortunately. We have to go 4000 miles to get to our first race, and the closest is Laguna. :)

Yes, our #9 car has won more races then any other in FRMC. Maybe I should have drove the #9 and not the #8 last year and would have seen better results ;)
