The International Conference of Sports Car
Clubs ("Conference") is an association of independent sports car clubs
in the United States and Canada. It is a regulatory and
administrative organization providing the basic guidelines for
organized sports car racing in its membership area. It is the
goal of Conference to supervise and regulate competition in accordance
with the wishes of the majority of the Conference License holders.
mm
Every Conference driver is represented in
affairs of ICSCC through his/her club's representative on the Contest
Board. Drivers are involved at the club level in formation of
the meeting agenda, and representatives participate in Contest Board
meetings under specific instructions which assure that their drivers'
opinions are reflected in discussion and voting. Each club has
one vote on the Contest Board for every driver in the club. *
mm
Conference was founded in 1957 and is the largest sports car racing
sanctioning body in the Pacific Northwest. It consists of five member
and five affiliate clubs in Oregon,
Washington, and British Columbia. Individuals belong to ICSCC member clubs rather
than to Conference itself.
mm
Each member club hosts one or more racing events
each year. These events are run under ICSCC competition regulations, and
various official and administrative services are provided by
Conference to all the member clubs, creating a truly regional
championship racing series. Drivers from ICSCC member and
affiliate clubs compete for points leading to a championship in
approximately 50 different classes in races
held at tracks including Portland International Raceway, Pacific Raceways
(formerly Seattle International Raceway), Mission Raceway Park, and
Spokane Raceway Park. (For detailed information on the ICSCC
race classes see the Technical Reference page
or the Competition Regulations.)
mm
Conference and its member clubs are dedicated to
keeping racing affordable and accessible for the amateur. Car classifications and
preparation rules are structured to allow participation of the widest possible range of
cars, from formula cars to custom built sports racers to production based or even showroom
stock cars. There is something to appeal to every taste and every budget!
mm
A large amount of the history of
Conference lies in the honors earned by its
members. The three premier forms of recognition are the Randall
Cup (Driver of the Year), Sterne Cup
(Novice of the Year), and the Worker of the
Year.
