The Challenge
A STAR Projects Event

OPEN TO TEAM CONTINENTAL MEMBERS AND RAT RACE DRIVERS ONLY.*

This sub-event will run integrally with “The Rats Runneth Over” race on Sunday, June 10th at PORTLAND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY, and is limited to the first 20 drivers to sign up. Entry fee is $150.00. This is arrive and drive: cars, fuel, etc. is Included.

The competition: Two cars, one session in each, one warm up lap, five laps on the clock, one cool off lap. Best lap time from each car combined to determine winners.

*The drivers: Open to RAT RACE drivers and Current Team Continental members (T.C. membership applications available at the track). Prior driving experience is required to qualify to run in this special sub-event (call).

The details: All drivers must supply their own safety gear. And sign the participation agreement / release. Drivers will be billed for repair of body damage they incur. Maximum liability for destroyed vehicle capped at $2,000.00. Disqualification for spin, body contact, or four wheels off course.

** Prize money: Will be paid through the first 3 winners. The total payout will be $1,000.00 or if the event is not fully subscribed, 1/3 of all sub-event entries received. ($500.00 for first, $250.00 for 2nd, $150.00 for third and $100.00 to the driver who scores the best time in a single car).

The track: It is what it is (if you get five laps of perfect driving conditions, or five laps on freshly oiled asphalt, stuck behind some back marker while under a yellow flag, that’s racing).

The cars: Just maybe the worst pieces of crap you will ever drive (but still running when you got in them). Your entry entitles you to unlimited whining upon completion of your run (which may be short if you can’t keep these cars on track). If the cars turn out to be better than described above, there will be no refund (Actually both cars have passed a Conference tech inspection and run in competition within the last two months).

The glory: The lowest combined time earns the title of “World’s Fastest Rat Driver”, bragging rights, and a kiss from our “Canadian Virgin” trophy queen at the conclusion of the day.

Registrar for this event: Marla Wiese at starprojectsevents@gmail.com
Questions: Bill Murray, 503-358-2617 (10:00 a.m. to midnight).

Hot Tip: Sign up in advance, get on the gate list, and avoid the $15.00 gate fee. Schedule your run time (first come gets first choice). Stay all weekend or drive your laps and get back to the list of “honey do’s” the wife has scheduled you for this weekend. Don’t forget to sign a few autographs for your fans before leaving the track. Clamoring fans are available for rent at reasonable rates, inquire at the complaint department, fourth floor of the track office, take the elevator.

If you have any interest in running this sub-event email me and we will send you the release, rules and disclaimer.

Yours for the sport,
Bill Murray
